Deduction is an AI tax preparation company founded in 2025 by Sai Dhanak and Jonathan Kieliszak. Dhanak grew up in the UK, where tax filing is largely automated, and was struck by the complexity of the US system, while Kieliszak comes from a family of CPAs who saw burnout and low technology adoption limiting the profession; the company raised a $2.8 million pre-seed round led by One Way Ventures and Creator Ventures.
The product, an AI agent named Taylor CPAI, organizes financial documents, finds deductions, calculates taxes, and files a return with a licensed CPA reviewing the output before it goes to the IRS, and users interact with Taylor by phone call, text, chat, or email rather than filling out a traditional tax-software questionnaire. That conversational, agent-plus-human-review model is Deduction's answer to the shortage of available CPAs during tax season.
Deduction targets individual US taxpayers who want an accountant-style experience without the accountant-level price tag, and it is free to use for organizing documents and getting answers year-round, with payment due only when a user files. Filing costs $499/year and includes unlimited CPA-reviewed advice for the year plus the annual return itself.
