Ledger IQ takes a QuickBooks trial balance and proposes the tax line mapping for each account, letting a preparer review rather than assign every line by hand. Adjusting entries are posted in the same working trial balance and the result exports to Lacerte, UltraTax and Drake.
Fitting the existing tax software rather than replacing it is the important detail. No accounting practice is changing its filing software mid-season, so anything that does not export cleanly into what they already run is unusable regardless of how good the mapping is.
Account mapping is repetitive, judgement-light work that consumes real preparer hours in busy season, which makes it a sound target. Suggested mappings still need review, since a misclassified account is a filing error rather than a cosmetic one, and pricing tiers are not detailed on the homepage.
