Avoca, founded in 2022 by MIT computer science graduates Tyson Chen and Apurva Shrivastava, answers every call, text, and chat for home-service businesses specifically, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and roofing contractors, and books jobs around the clock rather than covering customer support broadly the way every other tool in this category does.
That vertical focus followed a pivot: the founders originally built AI for restaurant missed-call handling before a conversation with a Dallas HVAC operator redirected them toward home services, where a single missed call can mean a $30,000 to $40,000 installation lost to a competitor. The platform now integrates directly with ServiceTitan and Housecall Pro, the field-service management systems home-service businesses already run on, and serves more than 800 enterprise customers in that vertical.
Pricing isn't published; independent estimates put mid-market accounts around $1,000 to $3,000 a month, billed per minute rather than a flat rate. For a home-service business specifically, one already running on ServiceTitan or Housecall Pro, rather than a general-purpose enterprise support platform adapted after the fact, Avoca's vertical focus and native integrations address that directly.
