Refraction takes a block of code and produces the surrounding work that developers routinely defer: unit tests, refactors, documentation and explanations. It runs in the browser across a wide range of languages, so there is no editor extension or project setup to get an answer.
The scope is deliberately narrow and better for it. Rather than competing with in-editor assistants on writing new code, it targets the tasks that get skipped under deadline, where a decent generated first pass genuinely beats the nothing that would otherwise exist.
Note that the name collides with Refraction AI, an unrelated autonomous delivery-robot company. This listing covers the developer tool at refraction.dev. Generated tests still need reading before they are trusted, since a test asserting the wrong behaviour is worse than no test.
