VCam is a desktop meeting companion from SplitmediaLabs Limited, the company behind XSplit. It sits between a webcam and a video app, removing the background behind the user with AI segmentation the company rates at 98.5% accuracy, then applying a backdrop, a blur or branding. The segmentation models are optimized for the NPU in newer laptops through work with Intel, and the company states that every feature runs on the device with no camera feed sent to external servers.
Beyond background removal, VCam adds auto-framing that keeps the speaker centered, studio lighting and bokeh blur effects, a library of more than 1,000 virtual backgrounds, name labels and logo branding. It outputs as a virtual camera, so it works with Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Discord and OBS Studio. A Business plan adds team workspaces with enforced logos and backgrounds, machine-based licensing and centralized billing, aimed at companies that want a consistent on-camera look across staff.
The free Starter plan includes a watermark, 500MB of storage and up to three workspace members. Personal removes the watermark and costs $48 a year or $59 once for a lifetime license, and Business costs $72 a year per user, all in USD per the company’s own pricing page. Enterprise is custom-priced for teams of 500 or more seats.
