GPT Workspace adds an AI agent, built on a GPT-5.2 reasoning model according to the site, directly into Google Workspace apps. Inside Gmail it can draft, summarise and schedule email; in Sheets it writes formulas, analyses data and automates spreadsheet tasks; in Docs and Slides it drafts writing and generates presentations; and in Drive it can summarise files and analyse PDFs, with a separate ChatGPT Forms Maker tool for building forms. The site says it is trusted by more than 7 million professionals and is listed on the Google Workspace Marketplace, and beyond OpenAI’s models it gives access to Claude, Gemini and Grok inside the same Workspace apps.
The FAQ is explicit that GPT Workspace is not related to Google in any way and is not covered by a Google Workspace subscription, which is worth reading carefully given how closely the product’s name and integration resemble an official Google feature. Giving any third-party tool access to Gmail, Drive and Docs content is a meaningful permission grant, so review exactly what data the connected apps can read before installing it broadly across a team, and treat AI-drafted emails and spreadsheet formulas as drafts that need a check before they go out or run against real data. The 7-million-user figure is the vendor’s own.
