Moveworks, founded in 2016, built its platform around internal employee support, an AI assistant and enterprise search layer helping employees resolve IT and HR requests themselves, distinct from the external, customer-facing support most other tools in this category handle.
That platform reached serious scale before its acquisition: roughly 5.5 million employee users and around 250 shared customers with ServiceNow by the time ServiceNow announced its acquisition of Moveworks in March 2025 for $2.85 billion, a deal that closed in December 2025. ServiceNow's stated rationale was combining its own agentic AI and workflow strength with Moveworks' front-end assistant and enterprise search technology to extend agentic AI to more of the workplace.
Moveworks now operates as part of ServiceNow rather than as a fully independent company. For anyone specifically interested in Moveworks' employee-support technology, evaluating it now means understanding how it fits into ServiceNow's broader platform roadmap post-acquisition, rather than assessing it as a standalone vendor the way it operated before 2025.
